When the Silence Feels Heavy

There are days when silence can feel like a weight — pressing in, deafening, and lonely. The world keeps spinning while you sit in the middle of an unanswered prayer, an unresolved situation, or a season that seems like it will never break.

I’ve been there.
Sometimes, when I’m deep in the work of searching for the missing or telling the stories of those the world has forgotten, I feel that silence most. It’s in the waiting for justice. The pause between leads. The space between loss and hope.

But silence doesn’t mean absence.

“Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10

God is still speaking even when He’s quiet. He’s still working even when we can’t see movement. Sometimes His silence is not punishment — it’s protection. It’s preparation. It’s the sacred hush before the miracle.

When we sit still in the silence, something powerful happens. Our ears become tuned to whispers we would miss in the noise. Our faith deepens. Our roots grow down instead of out, anchoring us for the storm and for the bloom that will come after.

So today, if you’re sitting in the silence, know this:
You are not forgotten.
Your prayers have not been ignored.
Your story is still being written by the One who holds every missing piece.

Hold on. Even the quiet can be holy.

🙏 Prayer

Lord, when the silence feels heavy, remind me that You are still near. Help me trust Your timing, even when I can’t see Your hand at work. Anchor my heart in Your presence. Amen.
